Kia ora te whānau,
This afternoon the Prime Minister announced that Cabinet agreed to remove the COVID-19 Protection Framework as of tonight, Monday 12 September at 11.59pm.
For our school this has two main impacts,
ONE: Household contacts of a person with COVID-19 do not need to isolate, but instead are asked to complete a RAT test each day, for five days. Therefore, students who are household contacts but test negative and do not have COVID-19 symptoms, should continue to attend school.
TWO: Masks are no longer needed in the school setting, this includes on buses and in classrooms. Masks will still be available for any staff or students who wish to continue wearing them. I personally am looking forward to seeing smiles on faces again!
We will continue to encourage other health measures such as clean, ventilated classrooms, washing and sanitizing hands and asking sick children to stay home, A HUGE thank you to all of our families for supporting our school and the procedures we have had to implement over the past two years – your support and understanding has been greatly appreciated.
Mauriora,
Kylie Piper
